After the hearing, the ALJ usually issues a written decision based on all the evidence obtained, including your testimony and that of witnesses. The ALJ may also:
Request additional evidence or information necessary to make a decision;
Send the case with a recommended decision to the Appeals Council for decision (though this happens very infrequently); or
Dismiss the request as described in §2008.
All parties to the hearing are notified of the ALJ's action and the reasons for it in a written decision.
