Program Announcement No. SSA-OESP-01-1 Request for Applications (RFA)--Cooperative Agreements to State Protection and Advocacy Systems to Provide Protection and Advocacy Services to Social Security Beneficiaries with Disabilities. Closing date was: February 26, 2001. The Social Security Administration (SSA) announces the availability of grant funds to make payments to each State to the protection and advocacy system established pursuant to part C of Title I of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act (42 U.S.C. 6041 et seq.). The purpose of the Work Incentives Assistance Program is to assist individuals with disabilities who receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and/or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) seek and obtain information and advice about receiving vocational rehabilitation and employment services and to provide advocacy or other services that a beneficiary with a disability may need to secure or regain gainful employment. The authority for these grants is found in section 1150 of the Social Security Act, as added by section 122 of Public Law 106-170, the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act of 1999. |
