| 2011 Congressional Briefing
The Social Security Administration’s (SSA) Philadelphia Regional Communications Office held its first Congressional Briefing of the 112th Congress. These informative sessions continue to be enormously popular – in fact, we hosted the largest group of staffers (32) ever for a briefing.
The Congressional staffers were welcomed by SSA’s Philadelphia Regional Commissioner, Laurie Watkins, who spoke to them about how SSA values the strong working relationship SSA employees have with the Region’s Congressional Offices. The briefing began with an overview of SSA’s programs followed by a panel discussion focusing on case trouble-shooting and the different components staffers can contact within SSA to resolve constituent issues. During the afternoon, staffers were given an introduction to eCongressional, a secured email messaging system, and a review of Social Security Online, SSA’s award winning website, that will allow staffers to provide constituent help at point of contact.
