The Hearings, Appeals and Litigation Law (HALLEX) manual communicates guiding principles and procedures to hearing level and Appeals Council adjudicators, i.e., administrative law judges (ALJ), attorney advisors, administrative appeals judges (AAJ), and appeals officers (AO), and to their support staff.
HALLEX serves as a reference source for staff throughout the Office of Hearings Operations (OHO) and the Office of Analytics, Review, and Oversight (OARO) and for staff in other Social Security Administration components; however, each division and part addresses a primary audience.
A. Volume I
