Within OHA, the Office of Appellate Operations (OAO) or the Office of the Chief Administrative Law Judge (OCALJ), depending on the focus of the impact of the class action on OHA, and with coordination by the Office of Policy, Planning and Evaluation (OPPE) will have overall responsibility for OHA's actions in response to class action lawsuits. OHA generally learns of a class action complaint directly from the Office of the General Counsel (OGC). When OPPE or another OHA component is informed of a class action that may impact OHA, the component informs the Associate Commissioner, the Executive Director of the Office of Appellate Operations (OAO), the Chief Administrative Law Judge, and any other appropriate parties.
