Subject: Representative Fees
This transmittal amends chapter I-1-2 of the Hearings, Appeals and Litigation Law (HALLEX) manual to provide information on the new standardized fee agreement form SSA-1693.
I-1-2-11 – We revised the NOTE to remove an outdated reference to “model fee agreement language” available on the public website. We updated the NOTE to reflect that the public website now contains a new standardized fee agreement form SSA-1693, and we provided a hyperlink to the form. We explained that the form is compliant with the statutory requirements for fee agreements, and when properly completed and signed, it is considered a valid fee agreement. We also explained that the form may be used by attorneys and non-attorneys, and it allows for multiple appointed representatives to sign the same fee agreement. We revised language in the section for readability.
