Background

This transmittal amends section I-2-8-30 of the Hearings, Appeals and Litigation Law (HALLEX) manual to update information about issuing a disability decision when a claim is appealed on a non-disability issue to the hearing level.

Explanation of Content and Changes

We amended HALLEX I-2-8-30 by changing the title to “Issuing a Disability Decision When a Claim Is Appealed on a Non-Disability Issue” to more accurately reflect the content of the section. We made editorial and formatting changes to the existing language and removed outdated information. We also added processing instructions for cases where the administrative law judge denies the claim based on a non-disability factor.
