Action Note

In I-3-390, Exhibit 1, delete all references to Social Security Ruling (SSR) 82-48c under the issue of Treating Physician Opinion in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th circuits. The SSR became obsolete on August 1, 1991, the date SSA issued final regulations describing standards for consultative examinations and existing medical evidence.

Background

When we issued the bound edition of the Hearings, Appeals and Litigation Law (LEX) manual (HALLEX) in March 1992, we indicated that we planned to issue periodic supplements as necessary. In October 1992, we issued the first supplement as Transmittal No. I-3-10 which included all Division 3 transmittals since the bound edition was printed. Attached is the second supplement approved for Volume I, Division 3, Appeals Council Review.

Explanation of Content and Changes

This transmittal updates HALLEX, Volume I, Division 3 and includes the following:

Associate this material with the appropriate chapter in the bound version. HALLEX users who did not receive a bound edition should insert the attached transmittal in the loose leaf binder for Division 3.
