Background

This transmittal amends chapter I-4-1 of the Hearings, Appeals and Litigation Law (HALLEX) manual to make minor updates to the Office of Appellate Operations' (OAO) instructions relating to extensions of time to file a civil action.

Explanation of Content and Changes

Chapter I-4-1 is amended as follows:

I-4-1-2 C – We updated the HALLEX citation in the second paragraph relating to instructions for an extension of time to file a civil action request and clarified when the Division of Civil Actions will handle the request.

I-4-1-46 – We changed the title to “Extensions of Time to File a Civil Action” to avoid confusion with other extension of time requests.

I-4-1-46 A – We updated the language regarding the branch responsible for processing an extension of time to file a civil action request and updated the HALLEX citation.

I-4-1-46 B – We updated the HALLEX citation relating to instructions for an extension of time to file a civil action request.
