Background

On May 20, 1992, we issued Temporary Instruction (TI) 5-429, Begley, et al. v. Sullivan, which provides instructions for implementing relief in this surviving spouse disability class action. SSA mailed notices to potential class members on March 13, 1992. The Tennessee Disability Determination Section began screening responses and making class membership determinations in August 1992. SSA subsequently discovered that a number of individuals were erroneously screened out of the class. To remedy the problem, SSA revised the screening sheet and added a set of screening instructions.

Explanation of Content and Changes

This issuance contains a new Attachment 3, Begley Screening Sheet, to replace the existing Attachment 3. It consists of a revised screening sheet and new screening sheet instructions.
