Hearing Requests Pending by Format

HISTORICAL NOTE: This report was created and the explanatory paragraph was written before ODAR’s name was changed to the Office of Hearing Operations (OHO) effective October 1, 2017.

This one-time report shows the number of cases pending from the end of FY 2006 through the end of FY 2012 in the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review’s (ODAR’s) hearing offices or other locations and the amount and percentages of those cases pending that were in either electronic folder (EF) format or paper format. An EF case is one where all pertinent claims documents are available for viewing electronically. A paper case has some or all claims documents on paper.

For various reasons, it became important for ODAR to move away from the traditional paper folder format to the EF format. The report below details the success of that initiative across the nation. In fact, ODAR decreased its pending paper format workload from 92% in FY 2006 to 4% by the end of FY 2012.
