Senate Passes S. Res. 116
To Expedite Senate Consideration of Certain Nominations
On June 29, 2011, by a vote of 89-8, the Senate adopted S. Res. 116, a resolution to provide for expedited Senate consideration of certain nominations. No further action is needed on this change to the Rules of the Senate.
Following are provisions of interest to SSA:
- Under the resolution, Presidential nominees, Federal advisory boards and councils, including OASDI Trustees and Social Security Advisory Board members, will move directly to the Senate floor for confirmation; no committee confirmation will be necessary unless a Senator specifically requests a full committee vetting.
- The resolution is effective 60 days after adoption.
