“ALS Disability Insurance Access Act of 2019”
On December 8, 2020, the House suspended the rules and passed S. 578, the ALS Disability Insurance Access Act of 2019. The bill would amend Title II of the Social Security Act to eliminate the five-month waiting period for disability insurance benefits for individuals with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The Senate previously passed S. 578 on December 2, 2020. The bill now moves to the President for his action.
The provision would apply to applications for disability insurance benefits filed after the date of the enactment of the Act.
