Welcome to the San Francisco Region of the Social Security Administration. We serve the people of Arizona, California, Nevada, Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Our goal in the San Francisco Region is simple: to pay the right check, to the right person, at the right time.

Our region has 153 local offices, 5 telephone service centers, 19 Disability Determination Services offices, 26 hearings offices, and the Western Program Service Center. We are a highly diverse workforce of 5,716 employees spread over six time zones.  More than 14% of us are bilingual or multilingual and we speak over 37 languages.

We pay almost $204.1 billion annually to more than 11.3 million people through the Social Security and Supplemental Security Income programs.  In addition to retirement benefits, we also pay disability, family and survivor benefits.
