The chart below explains the jurisdictional breakdown of judicial circuits within the Office of Appellate Operations (OAO). The numerical breakdown under “Circuit Jurisdiction” depends on the last two digits of an individual's Social Security number.
The chart is organized by workload and includes the jurisdictional breakdown for:
Disability Processing Branches (DPB) (process disability claims),
Retirement and Survivors Insurance/Supplemental Security Income ((RSI/SSI) Branch (processes non-disability claims),
Court Case Preparation and Review Branches (CCPRB) (process civil actions), and
Division of Quality Branches (DQB) (process Appeals Council (AC) own motion reviews).
While members of the public may use the fax numbers below to submit additional evidence to the AC, they should NOT use these numbers to submit a Request for Review to the AC. The preferred method for submitting a Request for Review to the AC is by using the secure online process available at https://www.ssa.gov/benefits/disability/appeal.html.
