State Data Exchange Community of Excellence

FAQs

What is the goal of the State Data Exchange Community of Excellence (CoE)?

The goal of the State Data Exchange CoE is to provide an all-inclusive and coordinated process for gaining input on targeted issues affecting states’ electronic SSA data needs. The State Data Exchange CoE gives interested stakeholders an opportunity to share their unique insights on topics of particular interest to SSA early in the process and directly with policy makers. Further, it provides an opportunity for stakeholders to hear unique perspectives from one another. It is not intended to be a means for reaching agreement on an issue and SSA participation is for the purpose of gaining insight through listening.

Who can participate in the State Data Exchange CoE?

The State Data Exchange CoE is an open forum for state representatives, Federal/State/local and tribal government agencies, private companies, and others interested in SSA’s electronic data exchanges.

How can I share my ideas with the State Data Exchange CoE?

You may share your ideas during meetings. The State Data Exchange CoE meets periodically throughout the year via teleconference. We will provide additional details nearer to the next meeting date.

Will the State Data Exchange CoE override any public feedback or any other public forums?

The State Data Exchange CoE gives interested stakeholders an opportunity to share their unique insights on electronic data exchange to SSA early in the process and directly with SSA officials. Further, it provides an opportunity for stakeholders to hear from one another—while in no way intended to be a means for reaching agreement on an issue. It will not replace any of SSA’s procedures for making changes under the Administrative Procedure Act.
