This calculator uses the formulas in 5.00C3a and 105.00C3a to compute the SSA Chronic Liver Disease (SSA CLD) scores we use to evaluate chronic liver disease under listing 5.05G for adults and under listing 105.05G1 for children age 12 or older. The SSA CLD score calculation contains at least one, and sometimes two, parts, as described below.*
Enter all lab values and dates to see if SSA CLD scores are 20 or above.
- If there are multiple laboratory values within the 30-day interval for serum creatinine (mg/dL), serum total bilirubin (mg/dL), or INR, use the highest value to calculate the SSA CLD score.
- If there are multiple laboratory values within the 30-day interval for serum sodium (mmol/L), use the lowest value to calculate the SSA CLD score.
-
All of the required laboratory values must adhere to the date range criteria:
- For each lab set, all of the required laboratory values must have been obtained within a continuous 30-day period.
- The "date of the SSA CLD score" is the date of the earliest of the three or four laboratory values used for its calculation.
- The date of the second SSA CLD score must be at least 60 days after the date of the first SSA CLD score and both scores must be within the required 12-month period.
Note: All of the required laboratory values must have been obtained within a continuous 30-day period.

Serum Creatinine (mg/dL)
Serum Creatinine value must be between 1 and 4. Enter a value of 1 for Serum Creatinine values less than 1.0, and 4 for Serum Creatinine values over 4.0.Was the individual in renal failure or on dialysis within a week of test date?Enter a Serum Creatinine value greater than or equal to 1.0 and less than or equal to 4.0.Serum Creatinine value must be between 1 and 4. A value of 1 has been substituted for any Serum Creatinine values less than 1.0, and a value of 4 has been substituted for any Serum Creatinine values over 4.0.All of the required laboratory values must have been obtained within a continuous 30-day period. -
Serum Total Bilirubin (mg/dL)
Enter a value of 1 for Serum Total Bilirubin values less than 1.0.Enter a Serum Total Bilirubin value greater than or equal to 1.0.Serum Total Bilirubin value must be greater than or equal to 1.0. A value of 1 has been substituted for any Serum Total Bilirubin values less than 1.0.All of the required laboratory values must have been obtained within a continuous 30-day period. -
INR
Enter a value of 1 for INR values less than 1.0.Do not use any INR values derived from testing done while the claimant is on anticoagulant treatment.Enter an INR value greater than or equal to 1.0.INR value must be greater than or equal to 1.0. A value of 1 has been substituted for any INR values less than 1.0.All of the required laboratory values must have been obtained within a continuous 30-day period. -
Serum Sodium (mmol/L)
If serum sodium is less than 125 mmol/L, use 125 for serum sodium value; if serum sodium is higher than 137 mmol/L, use 137 for serum sodium value. Please enter a value of greater than or equal to 125 and less than or equal to 137.Serum Sodium value must be greater than or equal to 125 and less than or equal to 137. A value of 125 has been substituted for any serum sodium values less than 125, and a value of 137 has been substituted for any serum sodium values over 137.All of the required laboratory values must have been obtained within a continuous 30-day period.

SSA CLD Score
SSA CLD scores meet listing criteria as both are 20 or greater.
SSA CLD scores do NOT meet listing criteria since both are not 20 or greater.

Lab Set 2
* If the SSA CLDi score is greater than 11, a serum sodium value is required and we move to the second step of calculating the SSA CLD score. If the SSA CLDi score is 11 or below, the SSA CLD score will be the SSA CLDi value.
